WebTV PortTM (Future Expansion Capabilities) 1.8 gigabit-per-second expansion port connector allows for future expansion and connection of options like a printer interface, cable modem, ISDN connection. Smart CardTM Slot supports ISO-compliant Visa)/MasterCard), cash card, and ATMTM smart cards. The software in the box is updated four times a year through the phone line and you never have to do anything. One day a window will pop up on your TV telling you that you have a Upgrade. Would you like it NOW or LATER. You press the desired choice and it works accordingly. After the upgrade is complete it even shuts off your WebTV for you. The WebTV is ready for technologies that are not even used yet such as Smart Cards, Cable Modems, and High Definition Television.

BOTTOM LINE: Your WebTV will always be up to date with the latest software. The WebTV unit gets better as you use it.
